Looking for a way to kick off the school year?

Palm Beach County students go back to school Aug. 10. Whether you’re looking for an event to help your kids celebrate the end of summer, you’re in need of school supplies or you want to donate school supplies, see what’s coming up in the next week.

Back-to-School Events

Kindergarten Readiness: 11 to 11:45 a.m. Aug. 3 at the Greenacres Branch library, 3750 Jog Road, Greenacres. Free event. Get ready for the big day with activities and lessons to build confidence. Registration required. More info: Click here

Back to School Teen Vision Board Workshop, 2 to 5 p.m. Aug. 3 in The District at Wellington Green, 10300 Forest Hill Blvd., Wellington. Cost is $15. Set goes for the upcoming school year with help from a professional life coach who will lead teens to create a vision board of their social, academic and personal goals. Supplies are included. Let’s Get Ready for Kindergarten: 10 to 11 a.m. Aug. 4 at the Main Library, 3650 Summit Blvd., West Palm Beach. Free event. Storytime and activities to prepare for the school year. For ages 3-5. Registration is required. More info: Click here

Back-to-School Basics: 11 to 11:45 a.m. Aug. 4 at the Jupiter Branch library, 705 Military Trail, Jupiter. Free event. Get ready for the school year with hands-on materials and early-learning concepts. For ages 3-6. Registration is required and filling up fast. More info: Click here

Back-to-School Party in the Park: 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 4 at the Wellington Amphitheater, 12100 Forest Hill Blvd., Wellington. Free event. Activities include bounce houses, costumed characters, DJ, dancing, face painting, food trucks, prize wheel, Touch-a-Truck with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, and a trackless train. Back-to-School Event: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Florida Blue Palm Beach Center, 1501 N. Congress Ave., Boynton Beach. Free event. Activities include a giveaway with back-to-school supplies including backpacks while supplies last, face painting, backpack patches, snacks and drinks, free ice cream and more. Kids Club Back to School Bash, 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 5 in The Grand Court at Wellington Green. Free event. Activities include canvas painting, airbrush tattoos, balloon twisters, music and entertainment. Snacks will be provided. Representatives will be on hand from several after-school sports and activities. More info: Click here

School Supply Donations

Looking to donate? Here are some options:

Mall at Wellington Green: Now through Aug. 6 at the Mall at Wellington, 10. This school supply drive supports the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County. Pick up a tag from the tree in the Grand Court and shop for the supplies listed, then return the supplies to the mall’s Security Office on the upper level down the hallway by JCPenney. Boys and Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County: Now through Aug. 6. You can donate directly to help buy backpacks filled with supplies for students in need in Palm Beach County. Each backpack is $10. There also are local dropoff locations in addition to the Mall at Wellington Green, including several Starbucks restaurants and the Cox Science Center and Aquarium. More info: Click here

Back to School Food Drive for Palm Beach County Food Bank: Now through Aug. 31. You can donate to the organization to buy food for families in need, or drop off most-wanted items at locations around the county including most Palm Beach County Library System branches and Royal Palm Brewing Company. Items should be shelf-stable without glass packaging: beans, fish, chicken, beef, peanut butter, vegetables and fruit. More info: Click here
