If you and your lady friends love to celebrate Galentine’s Day, Alice + Olivia has an event for you.

They’re kicking off the season of love with a Galentine’s Day event from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27 at the Alice + Olivia boutique at The Royal Poinciana Plaza, 340 Royal Poinciana Way, Palm Beach.

And if you’re a big fan of the fashion label, this event is even more for you: Stacey Bendet, CEO of Alice + Olivia, is hosting with Bettina and Samantha Anderson and Ashley Brown.

The event is open to the public and includes cocktails, sweets and activities like bracelet-making. Ten percent of all sales benefit the Selfless Love Foundation, a Florida-based nonprofit that leverages resources, expertise and proven solutions to improve the child welfare system, creating opportunities for more foster youth to find their forever families and thrive in adulthood.

This event is sure to fill up fast. Be sure to RSVP to palmbeachstore@aliceandolivia.com to grab your spot.

You might need me to back up a little bit, if you’re not familiar with Galentine’s Day.

The holiday was created by Leslie Knope, the lead character in the TV series “Parks and Recreation.” Knope, portrayed hilariously by Amy Poehler, says in a 2010 episode of the show that she celebrates her female friends on Feb. 13 with brunch, waffles, mimosas and gifts.

“Every Feb. 13, my ladyfriends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style,” Knope says. “Ladies celebrating ladies. It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus frittatas.”
