One of my favorite questions to find in my inbox: “When is [insert store name here] opening?”
(My second favorite question is, “What’s being built there?”)
This morning’s question was a relatively easy one to track down: When will the pair of Wawa stores open on Southern Boulevard near Wellington?
One store, at 8115 Southern Blvd. just west of Florida’s Turnpike, is set to open very soon, according to Wawa’s website. There isn’t a grand opening date, but Wawa’s website says the store will open in the winter of 2023. And considering yesterday was the first day of spring, we should see a grand opening date announced soon.
The wait will be a bit longer for the other store to open at 15475 Southern Blvd., on the northeast corner of Southern and B Road in Loxahatchee Groves. That one is still under construction and set to open in “Spring 2023,” according to Wawa’s website. That store is part of the larger Groves Town Center multi-use project on that corner that includes the Aldi grocery store, which has been open since January 2021, a car wash, a new Culver’s restaurant and medical offices.

According to a Facebook event, the next Palm Beach County Wawa store to open will be in Boynton Beach at 2505 Woolbright Road, with a grand opening celebration from 8 to 9 a.m. March 23. The first 100 people in line will get a free shirt, and there will be free coffee and a Hoagies for Heroes competition.
Two other Wawa stores are set to open this year in Palm Beach County: 9910 Jog Road in suburban Boynton Beach, and 1201 Lantana Road in Lantana, in the Water Tower Commons development.
What’s the big deal about Wawa? It’s hard to explain unless you’ve been to one. The hoagies are delicious, and the coffee is fresh, which is a big bonus when you’re on the road and looking for a decent meal. Wawa stores also have some of the cleanest bathrooms I’ve found in a gas station setting. When I’m on a road trip and need to make a pit stop, I look for a Wawa. The chain also has pretty decent gas prices, which is really saying something with inflation.
Drop a comment and let me know: Will you drive out of your way to go to the new Wawa stores near Wellington? Or will your routine stay the same?
