Chain restaurants in Wellington area: Three new, and another returns

[Culver’s]

Add four names to the carousel of chain restaurants coming and going from Royal Palm Beach, Wellington and the surrounding area.

And no, I’m not talking about Wellington’s second BurgerFi location, set to open soon on State Road 7 in front of Whole Foods. (A countdown clock on BurgerFi’s website has the location at 2535 S. State Road 7, Unit 110, opening in 20 days.)

A Culver’s is being planned for a spot on the north side of Southern Boulevard just east of Aldi and the car wash currently under construction.

World of Beer is returning to the area, to the building at 11121 Southern Blvd., Royal Palm Beach, that most recently housed Fortunoff Backyard Store and before that was On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina.

On the northeast corner of State Road 7 and Southern Boulevard, our county’s first Raising Cane’s is replacing a former Applebee’s.

And a locally based chain plans two new locations in the western communities over the next year or so, with 3Natives opening a Wellington location in the Publix plaza at South Shore and Forest Hill boulevards, and a location to be named in Westlake, according to the restaurant’s website.

Whew! A mouthful, right? And that’s not to mention the potential restaurants coming to the Lotis development on the west side of State Road 7 north of Forest Hill Boulevard.

Culver’s will be a unique addition to the lineup of drive-thru fast food restaurants along Southern Boulevard. The closest location is Lake Park. Culver’s is known for its Butterburgers, fried Wisconsin cheese curds and frozen custard.

Right now, its too soon to say when Culver’s will open in Loxahatchee Groves, a spokesperson told me. Keep an eye on the cleared land next to the car wash if you want real-time updates.

A media contact for World of Beer said it’s also too soon to say when that will open, though it’s much farther along in the process than Culver’s. There were crews inside working when I drove by on Monday, and World of Beer has been added to some of the directional signage in the Southern Palm Crossing Plaza.

World of Beer had a previous location in our area along State Road 7 next to the Mall at Wellington Green. The bar is known for offering hundreds of different kinds of beers.

The Raising Cane’s in Royal Palm Beach will be the chain’s first in Palm Beach County. The fast food drive-thru known for its fried chicken fingers and signature Cane’s Sauce should open this fall, according to a news release from July.
