A controversial plan to build hundreds of homes in Wellington goes back before Wellington’s Planning, Zoning and Adjustment Board on Wednesday, Aug. 16.

The board will hear closing arguments and then deliberate and vote on whether to recommend approval or denial to the Village Council of the Wellington Equestrian and Golf Club project, also known as The Wellington North and South.

The board last month postponed its vote, after two long nights of presentations and dozens of public comments. Wellington’s Equestrian Preserve Committee reviewed the project during a two-night meeting in June. That board voted unanimously to recommend denial of the project’s applications.

I’ll have a report after the meeting. Check WellingtonMom.com for updates.

For more information about the project, read my three-part, in-depth report on the issues surrounding The Wellington:

The developers: Who are they, and why do they feel this is the right project for Wellington?

Ocala, Ocala, Ocala: I went to the World Equestrian Center to help you better understand why some equestrians say Wellington’s show grounds need a major overhaul to prevent competitors from leaving.

The opposition: Who are they, and why are they so vehemently opposed to this project?
